Munich Food Tour II
Bavarian Bites & Nature Delights
This tour in a nutshell
Welcome to Munich's Ultimate Foodie Adventure! We'll forgo the mountains today to uncover some of Munich's natural beauty, laid-back neighbourhoods and delicious food on this private Munich Food Tour that takes us well beyond the old town.
Our tour kicks off at a traditional restaurant for the quintessential Munich food experience – a classic white sausage breakfast (or lunch). Try this one of-a-kind sausage paired with a warm, doughy pretzel and a dollop of sweet mustard. Wash it all down with a frothy wheat beer (yes, even in the morning – when in Munich …).
On our way to the hip Gärtnerplatz area bustling with cafés, boutiques and bars, we'll touch upon the vibrant Viktualienmarkt, Munich's open-air market. Learn about the history of both the market, the adjacent grain hall and the amazing supply of fresh mountain water we enjoy in Munich. Around the corner, a German version of a donut awaits before we dive into the history of Turkish and Italian migratory workers and the stamp they have left on Munich's culinary landscape.
The tram will now take us through the city streets to the sprawling English Garden – one of the largest parks in the world. If the sun's out, we'll make a beeline for the Chinese Tower beer garden. Your guide will bring some local cheeses and salamis and you'll sit down like a local would: with food brought from home and a cold beer from the tap.
Our walk now takes us to a truly unique Munich spectacle: the Eisbach river surfers. You'll be amazed by the crowd riding the perpetual wave in the heart of the city. It's an unexpected urban thrill that perfectly captures Munich's blend of tradition and cool.
This tour is a feast for all your senses, showcasing the best of Munich's food scene and urban quirks. Come hungry, leave happy and create memories that'll last long after the pretzel crumbs are gone!
